A Small-Town Christmas in Addison, PA
Christmas Weekend in the Laurel Highlands · December 11–13, 2026

You don’t need a crowded Christmas market.
You need a little town that opens its doors for one day.

Most of the year, Addison is quiet. But on Saturday, December 12, doors that are usually closed open up. The history museum. The church bake sale. The holiday craft show at the fire hall. For one day, this whole village feels like Christmas used to.

And Hartzell House is right in the middle of it.

Why This Weekend Is Different

The holidays rush by. Shopping, wrapping, running from one thing to the next. By the time Christmas arrives, you wonder where the season went.

This weekend is the opposite. Slow mornings. A warm house. A walkable village full of handmade gifts and homemade cookies. An afternoon making something beautiful with your hands, and dinner with good people around the table.

It’s the Christmas weekend getaway you keep meaning to take.

Friday Afternoon: The National Road
Arrive and take a slow drive along historic Route 40. Stop at the Petersburg Toll House here in Addison, one of the last remaining toll houses on the National Road, then continue to Fort Necessity National Battlefield, where George Washington fought his first battle. The grounds are open daily and free to visit. Then come back to Hartzell House and settle in by the fire.

Saturday: Christmas in the Village
Spend the morning wandering the village: the history museum, the church bake sale, and the holiday craft show. At 2:00, join us for Wreath & Remembrance, followed by an Italian buffet dinner at 5:00.

Sunday: Frank Lloyd Wright Country
After a slow homemade breakfast, visit Fallingwater or Kentuck Knob, two Frank Lloyd Wright masterpieces just a short drive from Hartzell House. Both are open on December weekends. Reserve your tour times ahead, since spots are limited.
