Opening to Feel — Grief Retreat
August 7–9, 2026 Guided by Melissa Angelini
Grief Educator & Grief Movement Guide Certified by David Kessler’s Grief Educator Certification
A space to step away, be supported, and spend time understanding your grief.
What This Is
Grief is heavy to carry alone.
This retreat is a small, supported gathering for people who are ready to step away from the noise of everyday life and give themselves something they rarely get: time, space, and care.
There’s no timeline here. No expectation for where you should be in it.
There is no fixing here — only understanding, expression, and time to be.
What’s Included
- Two-night stay at Hartzell House
- Daily meals, thoughtfully prepared and shared together
- Gentle, guided practices to understand and express grief – in the body and in words – with tools you can take home.
- Quiet time built into every day for rest and reflection
- A small, intimate group setting
- A Sunday visit to Kentuck Knob, one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most beloved homes
What the Weekend Feels Like
Friday evening, you arrive. You settle in. There’s no agenda yet – just the house, a meal, and the quiet of southwest Pennsylvania.
Saturday moves gently. Mornings are unhurried. We gather, we move, we sit with what’s true. Afternoons leave room to walk, rest, write, or simply be.
Sunday morning we close together – and then, for those who want it, we take a slow, beautiful drive to Kentuck Knob. A piece of architecture built into the hillside. A fitting way to end a weekend about learning to carry what’s heavy with a little more grace.
