Looking to put some Fireworks into your Relationship this July?

Aaah July…
How I love you in the mountains.

There is so much to see and experience in the spectacular Southern Laurel Highlands and our Tri-State Sisters in the Summer, that I thought I should share a bit so you can plan your visit! (Click the underlined links for deeper info)

Nemacolin Woodlands, just 15 minutes up historic Rt 40, offers up some ground shaking, fireworks displays and entertainment ($20 + parking) , as well as an Americana Extravaganza on July 6, 2019,(tickets $20 – $150+ may be purchased through the link) that includes concerts, dancers, neon Tarot card readings. And, if you choose to upgrade to a VIP experience ($150), you are given access to exclusive areas that include food, drinks, wine and bourbon tasting, and more!  You can check out their July 4 – 7, 2019 Holiday Happenings schedule HERE.

FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN, just below us at Deep creek Lake, is one of my personal favorite fireworks display and activities. (July 4, 2019 – Rain Date July 5, 2019) I love heading down a bit early and letting my mini-golf-freak emerge at Funland, where you can enjoy bumper cars, go-carts, water balloon blasters and a myriad of games before ordering your pizza and icecream and then tailgating in the parking lot for a great view of the fireworks. Other optimal spots include the overlook above the lake on Rt 219, Garrett College, or, if you can finagle it, a boat on the lake! Oh! And there is a new ropes course in DCL, Monkey Business Adventure Park, that will add a dimension of adrenaline to your trip.

OK, so this is not technically in the fireworks category, but it does set off explosions in my history geek heart, so…

Chautauqua is Back! One of my favorite things to do close by at DCL has moved a bit South to Mountain Lake Park, the original site of Chautauqua on the mountain side of Maryland. This event, held over a three day period, July 5-6-7, 2019, seamlessly melds the past with the present.Chautauqua presents an interactive program that engages viewers in thoughtful dialogue with scholars who take on the persona of historical people of significance. It is a one of a kind experience that will have you walking away enhanced. You can TUNE IN to a fabulous podcast about Chautauqua right here.
