About Hartzell House

Hartzell House Bed & Breakfast is more than a historic property.

For us, it represents a dream pursued and a life reimagined.

Nestled in Addison, Pennsylvania, is a beautifully restored Victorian property blending historic character with refined Craftsman comfort. Generous gathering spaces and thoughtfully updated accommodations create an experience that feels both intimate and expansive.

But what truly defines Hartzell House is not just the structure — it is the hospitality within it.

The Innkeepers

Melissa and Robert Angelini long dreamed of owning and operating a bed & breakfast.

After decades of careers, hosting gatherings, and transforming homes into spaces for celebration, they chose to follow that dream and steward Hartzell House with care and intention.

Together, they bring a shared passion for:

• Creating welcoming, beautiful spaces
• Thoughtfully prepared food
• Attention to detail
• Meaningful connection

Melissa, a former New York State Park professional of 28 years, discovered her love of gardening and nature through her work. She is known for her eye for design, creativity in the kitchen, and her ability to make a space feel both refined and deeply welcoming.

Robert, a Brooklyn native and former president of his family business for 35 years, brings craftsmanship, excellence, and hands-on skill to everything he touches. Whether remodeling, cooking, or hosting guests, his commitment to quality is unmistakable — and his handmade mozzarella has become a guest favorite.

The Property

Originally built in 1870, the historic West Wing offers Victorian character with antique furnishings, fireside seating, and quiet corners for reflection.

The East Wing, added in 2005, introduces spacious Craftsman-inspired accommodations and additional gathering areas designed for comfort and ease.

Throughout the inn, guests will find:

• Multiple common spaces across both wings
• Thoughtfully updated accommodations
• Organic soaps and creams
• Courtyard dining, decks, gardens, and evening fire pit gatherings

From the great room and sunroom to the library and lawn, Hartzell House offers something increasingly rare:

Space.

Space to gather.
Space to retreat.
Space to breathe.

Dining at Hartzell House

Meals are designed to feel both personal and relaxed.

Many guests enjoy gathering in the great room, where our open kitchen creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

For those who prefer a quieter setting, additional dining spaces throughout the inn offer a more private experience — whether in the intimate library, a private dining room, or the relaxed East Wing gathering space.

Our Vision

Melissa and Robert are committed to thoughtfully evolving Hartzell House for today’s traveler.

Beyond offering refined comfort and warm hospitality, they are dedicated to cultivating it as a restorative place — a setting where individuals, couples, and small groups can truly rest.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Laurel Highlands, guests enjoy easy access to nearby parks, waterfalls, scenic overlooks, and outdoor adventures — returning at day’s end to comfort, quiet, and space.

It is a place to slow down.
To step away from routine.
To reconnect with nature.
Or simply to rest.

They look forward to welcoming you.
