A Year of Gathering -and Looking Ahead at Hartzell House

sun shining through snow covered trees

As we look back on the past year at Hartzell House, what stands out most are the moments of gathering – the times when people came together around the table, around a shared experience, or around something meaningful.

This year, Thanksgiving at Hartzell House was one of those moments. Guests gathered for a holiday that felt both festive and familiar — a shared meal, conversation that lingered, and the comfort of being cared for when being home wasn’t an option. It reminded us how powerful it can be to create space for connection during meaningful seasons.

Soon after, we hosted our Wreath & Remembrance gathering, a quieter, more reflective experience. Guests came together to create wreaths, set intentions, and take a moment to honor those they carry in their hearts. It was gentle, grounding, and deeply moving — the kind of gathering that stays with you long after the day ends.

These experiences reflect what we love most about Hartzell House: creating space for people to slow down, connect, and be present – whether the moment calls for celebration, remembrance, or rest.

Winter at Hartzell House

Winter brings a different rhythm to the Laurel Highlands. While Frank Lloyd Wright house tours pause until spring, the season still offers beautiful ways to experience the region.

Guests can enjoy winter walks at Fallingwater, peaceful trails, scenic drives, and open landscapes that feel especially quiet this time of year. Fireside evenings, fresh snow, and cozy mornings round out the experience.

Popular winter activities include:

  • Winter walks at Fallingwater and nearby natural areas

  • Peaceful hikes and snowy trails

  • Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing nearby (weather permitting)

  • Scenic winter drives through the Laurel Highlands

  • Fireside evenings with a glass of wine

An Invitation to Slow Down

Our Cabin Fever Special (available on select dates) invites you to truly settle in. Stay two consecutive nights and enjoy 50% off your second night — an easy way to slow your pace and savor your time here.

We continue to welcome couples looking for a quiet getaway, friends gathering for an overnight stay, and individuals who simply need some time alone. Whether you come to reconnect, reflect, or rest, Hartzell House offers space to arrive exactly as you are.

For those with the flexibility to work remotely, Hartzell House also makes a wonderful workcation, offering quiet spaces for focused work balanced with restful evenings.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we look toward 2026, we’re excited to continue growing Hartzell House as a place for meaningful gatherings.

We look forward to hosting:

  • Wine dinners centered around thoughtfully prepared meals

  • Interactive workshops that are hands-on, creative, and engaging

  • Weddings and private events, each one personal and unique

  • Intimate retreats offering space for reflection, connection, and renewal

We’re grateful for everyone who joined us this past year and excited for what’s ahead.

Whether you’re visiting for a quiet winter stay or dreaming of a future celebration or retreat, we’d love to welcome you.

With gratitude,
Robert & Melissa
